The Swedish Embassy in Minsk was last year closed after the Swedish PR agency Studio Total flew an unsanctioned flight to Belarus, throwing down teddybears with messages of freedom. In response, the Swedish government decided to not welcome the new Belarusian ambassador to Sweden and recommended two employees of the Belarusian embassy to leave Stockholm.

It now seems like the stormy relations between Belarus and Sweden are about to change, as a Swedish Charge d’Affaires will be back in Minsk soon.

Today, the Swedish minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt, tweeted:

”After some difficulties, we will soon send a charge back to run our Embassy in Minsk in Belarus. Good for everyone.”
